Power sized to your pass
A field cultivator only works as well as the tractor behind it holds speed. If you are running a 33 to 44 foot finisher, the 6M and 6R frames in the 180 to 260 horsepower range give you the drawbar and the hydraulics without buying more tractor than your acres justify. Come in at 7R power when you are pulling wide tillage and a large planter with the same machine. We will walk your ground and size it honestly.
A level seedbed, every acre
Uneven residue and a cloddy finish cost you more at planting than any seed decision. The 2230LL and 2230FH field cultivators are built to leave a flat, uniform seedbed across the full width, and the floating hitch versions carry contour better on the rolling ground we have across southern Ohio and eastern Indiana. Frontier tillage tools cover the lighter work, finishing headlands and freshening end rows.
Planters and drills that match
Planting is where the season is won, and the right configuration depends on your rows and your rotation. Split-row drawn planters let you run corn and beans on one frame. Mounted planters keep the load tight behind a smaller tractor on short fields. For drilled beans and wheat, the 1590 and the air drills cover the spacings we see most. We stock parts for these and our technicians are trained on them.

Questions we get on this job
How much tractor do I need for a 40 foot field cultivator?
Plan on power in the 220 to 250 horsepower range to keep working speed in heavier residue, which puts you in the 6R or 7R class. Weight and ballast matter as much as rated horsepower on our clay ground. We will look at your fields and your tillage width before recommending a model.
Should I buy new or used?
About 55% of the machines in this market were bought used, and there is nothing wrong with that on a tractor or a tillage tool. We would rather put you in a sound used tractor and a new planter than stretch the budget the other way. We will lay out both options plainly.
Can one tractor handle both tillage and planting?
Often yes, especially with a 7R pulling a wide finisher and then a split-row planter. The tradeoff is that you are changing hitches during your tightest window. Most operations we serve run around seven machines, and a utility tractor as the second unit is usually what keeps planting moving.
Can I see one of these work on my ground first?
Yes. We will arrange a demo on your own fields so you can see how the tractor and the tillage tool behave in your soil. We have been family-owned here since 1904, and we come to you with solutions rather than a spec sheet.
