Equipment for Lot Scraping and Manure Handling
Frozen ruts in January, soup in April, and a pack that has to move either way. Scraping lots and hauling manure is daily work, not seasonal work, so the machine has to start, load, and hold up to wet, corrosive conditions all year.
The loader does most of it
On the operations we serve, a utility tractor with a good loader handles the bulk of lot work. It pushes pack, loads the spreader, and scoops out corners a truck cannot reach. Match the loader to the tractor and the lift capacity carries wet manure without the front end feeling light. A 5075E or 5090E with a 520M or 540M loader is a common, honest fit for this job.
Box scrapers finish the surface
Scraping is only half the job. If the lot surface stays rutted, water stands and the pack never dries. A Frontier box scraper behind the tractor levels and reshapes the lot after the loader has moved the bulk, pulling material toward the center or the alley so the lot drains. Most operators pair it with the same tractor they already use, so there is no second machine to buy.
One tractor, more than one chore
Livestock operators here run around six machines, and none of them sit idle. The tractor that scrapes the lot in the morning should feed at noon and mow the lot edges in summer. That is why we point most Customers toward a loader tractor with quick-attach handling, rather than a machine that only does one thing well. A 5085M or 5095M covers scraping, bale work, and pasture upkeep.

Should I use a tractor loader or a skid steer for lot scraping?
It depends on the lot. A tractor loader gives you reach, road speed, and a machine that also feeds and mows, while a skid steer or compact track loader turns tighter and floats better in soft pack. Many operators here end up with both, and we are glad to walk through the trade-offs on your yard.
What size tractor do I need to scrape a feedlot?
For most operations we see, a 5075E through 5105M with a matched loader is the right window. Frozen or deeply packed manure asks more of the machine than the acreage suggests, so we size on pack conditions and spreader weight rather than lot size alone.
Can I see one work on my lot before I buy?
Yes. We will arrange a demo on your place, in your pens, with the pack you actually have. That is a far better test than a spec sheet, and it is how we would want to buy a machine ourselves.
