Tractors and Loaders for Trenching, Stump and Footing Work on Your Acreage

Running a water line to the barn, pulling old stumps out of a fence row, prepping footings for a pole building: on an estate property that is all one job, and it all happens in the same clay and rock we work in every day across Ohio and Indiana.

About half of acreage owners buy a loader with the tractor.
Most stump jobs start with brush clearing first.
Trenching almost always ends in backfill and cleanup.

Size the tractor to the soil

Footing and stump work punishes a machine that is too light. On our heavier Ohio and Indiana ground, Customers doing repeated digging and prying are happiest in the 3 Series, where the weight and hydraulic capacity hold up to a full day of it. If your work is lighter and occasional, a 2 Series still handles trench backfill and material moving without being more tractor than your property needs.

The loader does most of the work

People buy a tractor for the digging and then discover the loader runs the job. It hauls spoil away from the trench, carries gravel and concrete to the footing, drags stumps out of the way and pushes the backfill in at the end. Match the loader to the tractor so you get full lift without robbing stability, and keep a set of forks in mind for pallets of block and bagged mix.

Questions we get on this job

Can one tractor really handle trenching and footing work?

For most estate and acreage projects, yes. A 3 Series with a matched loader covers stump pulling, footing prep and backfill, and then goes back to mowing and snow work the rest of the year. We would rather size it right the first time than sell you two machines.

What if the trench needs to go deeper than a tractor will reach?

That is when a compact excavator makes sense, and we sell compact construction equipment alongside our Ag and Turf lineup. Tell us the depth, the length and what is in the ground, and we will tell you honestly which machine belongs on the job.

Can I see a machine work on my own ground before I buy?

Yes. We will arrange a demo at your property so you can see the lift, reach and traction in your actual soil. Reading a spec sheet in clay is not the same as watching a loader fill a bucket in it.

Will you have parts and service for this equipment later?

We stock parts for the tractors, loaders and attachments we sell, and our technicians are trained on them. Koenig has been local and family-owned since 1904, and we keep your work moving because your property is in our community.
