Is the John Deere S160 - 48 right for you?

Most Customers looking at these two machines own a half-acre to two-acre yard and want a mower that starts reliably, cuts cleanly, and does not become a project in the driveway. The Cub Cadet does carry a longer headline warranty and a slightly wider 50-inch deck, so it is fair to put those on the table. What tips the balance for most buyers, though, is everything that happens after the purchase. The S160's John Deere Easy Change 30-second oil system means routine maintenance actually gets done on schedule, which protects the engine over the long haul in a way a skipped oil change never can. The wider 20x10-8 rear tires on the S160 also give you noticeably better traction on slopes and soft ground compared to the narrower 20x8-8 on the Cub Cadet.

The side-by-side pedal control on the S160 is a real comfort difference on longer mowing sessions, giving you more intuitive speed management than a single foot pedal. And the spring-assisted deck lift takes less effort pass after pass. Beyond the machine itself, the John Deere resale story is strong, genuine parts are stocked at Koenig stores across Indiana and Ohio, and our service teams know these machines inside and out.
