Is the John Deere S130 - 42 right for you?

Most Customers looking at this comparison are homeowners with a half-acre to an acre of lawn who want something reliable, easy to maintain, and built to last more than a season or two. The CRAFTSMAN T2400K does carry a 46-inch deck and a three-year warranty on paper, so those two points are worth acknowledging. But when you dig into what actually matters day to day, the S130 pulls ahead in ways that are hard to put a number on until you own one.

The biggest practical difference is the John Deere Easy Change 30-second oil system. The Craftsman has no equivalent, which means oil changes stay on the traditional schedule most Customers end up skipping. The S130 also runs on John Deere's own 44N677 engine, and the rear tires are a full two inches wider at 20x10-8 versus 20x8, giving you noticeably better traction on slopes and soft ground. The side-by-side pedal hydrostatic control is more intuitive for most operators than a single foot pedal, especially if multiple family members are running the mower.

The warranty gap narrows considerably when you factor in that Koenig has stores across Indiana and Ohio stocked with genuine John Deere parts and technicians who know this machine. Resale on John Deere residential equipment also holds better over time. If any of this sounds like your situation, stop in and we can walk you through one in person.

The spec sheet is only half the decision

People buy an experience and a partner they trust, not just a machine. With Koenig you also get:

  • Performance Edge maintenance — scheduled service, multi-point inspections, genuine John Deere parts, priority scheduling; the 4-year plan adds a year of warranty.
  • Parts and service ecosystem — genuine parts, warranty support, certified technicians, and online scheduling.

  • A local partner across Ohio and Indiana — a team you can build a relationship around for the life of the equipment.
Specifications are subject to change and were accurate at time of publication. Engine power for non-Deere machines is provided by that engine manufacturer. See your local Koenig Equipment store for complete details.
