Is the John Deere S100 - 42 right for you?

Most Customers shopping in this range have a half-acre to a full acre, want something reliable that starts every spring without a fight, and really do not want to spend a Saturday afternoon wrestling with an oil change. That is exactly the Customer the S100 was built for. Yes, the Murray carries a 19 hp engine versus the S100's 17.5 hp, and we will be straight with you: that is a real number. But for a standard residential lawn, 17.5 hp is plenty, and the gap in day-to-day mowing experience comes down to everything else on the sheet.

The S100 runs a TLT200 hydrostatic transaxle controlled by side-by-side foot pedals, which means speed and direction feel natural, like driving a car. The Murray uses a hand lever CVT, which some Customers find awkward once they have used foot-pedal hydrostatic. The S100 also gives you a no-tools oil drain with a replaceable filter, something the Murray spec sheet simply does not address. John Deere's Edge deck has a reputation for a clean, consistent cut that holds up over years of use, and the 2-year bumper-to-bumper warranty backs the whole machine, not just selected components.

Add in genuine John Deere parts availability and the Koenig service network across Indiana and Ohio, and you have a mower that is easy to own for the long haul. Stop in and let one of our team members walk you through it in person.
