A straight, spec-by-spec look for gator buyers across Ohio and Indiana. The numbers are only half the decision.
The Customer who's looking at the Gator TX 4x2 is usually someone who needs a dependable workhorse for a farm, a large property, or a grounds crew — someone hauling feed, tools, or landscape material day in and day out. The conversation almost always comes back to payload and practicality. On that front, the Gator TX carries 600 lb in its cargo box compared to the Kubota RTV500's 441 lb, and it tows up to 1,000 lb. The cargo box itself is noticeably larger, so bulky loads that would hang over the Kubota's bed fit cleanly in the Gator. The fully enclosed, oil-bath final drive also means less maintenance exposure in dirty or wet conditions, which matters when the machine needs to be ready every morning.
Now, to be straight with you: the RTV500 does offer four-wheel drive and pulls slightly more on the tow rating at 1,102 lb. If you're regularly working steep, loose terrain, that 4WD is worth a conversation. But for the majority of flat to rolling property work our Customers are doing across Indiana and Ohio, the Gator TX's payload advantage, larger box, and lower total cost of ownership tend to win the day. Resale on Deere equipment in this region stays strong, and having a Koenig store nearby for genuine parts and fast service is something you just can't put a number on.
Stop in and talk with your local Koenig team. We can walk you through both machines side by side and help you figure out which one actually fits the work you're doing.
