Spec Comparison

John Deere 4044M HST/PRT vs. John Deere 4052R HST/PRT

A straight, spec-by-spec look for cut buyers across Ohio and Indiana. The numbers are only half the decision.

John Deere 2032R Compact Tractor

Is the John Deere 4044M HST/PRT right for you?

Most Customers comparing these two are hobby farmers or rural property owners who want a capable compact utility tractor for mowing, loader work, and light implement use. They are not running a commercial operation, and they are not putting in ten-hour days in the field. The 4044M gives you 42.5 horsepower and 2,500 pounds of lift capacity, which handles the vast majority of what that kind of property demands. The hydraulic flow, hitch category, and wheelbase are identical between the two machines, so you are not giving anything up in terms of how implements connect and perform.

The 4052R does produce more power, 50.8 horsepower versus 42.5, and it comes with cruise control as standard where the 4044M lists it as optional. Those are real differences worth acknowledging. But for a Customer who is not consistently pushing the limits of a 40-plus horsepower machine, paying for eight additional horsepower rarely makes practical sense. The 4044M also ships with the PowrReverser transmission as standard, which many operators prefer for loader and chore work where you are frequently changing direction.

The right tractor is the one sized honestly to your property and your workload, not the one with the highest number on the spec sheet.
