Spec Comparison

John Deere 4044M HST/PRT vs. John Deere 4044R HST/PRT

A straight, spec-by-spec look for cut buyers across Ohio and Indiana. The numbers are only half the decision.

John Deere 2032R Compact Tractor

Is the John Deere 4044M HST/PRT right for you?

When a Customer is weighing the 4044M against the 4044R, the conversation usually starts with a pretty simple question: how much tractor do you actually need? Both machines share the same 42.5-horsepower engine, identical hydraulic output, matching wheelbase, and the same 2,500-pound hitch lift capacity, so the core working capability is the same. The real difference comes down to the standard transmission and the cab option. The 4044R ships standard with the eHydro transmission and includes a cab configuration, while the 4044M comes standard with the PowrReverser transmission and is open-station only. If you know you want a cab and you prefer a hydrostatic feel right out of the box, the R makes sense. But if you are running this tractor on a property where an open station fits your work style, and you are comfortable with a PowrReverser, the 4044M gets you to the same productive place at a lower entry point.

One honest note: cruise control is standard on the 4044R and only optional on the 4044M, so if you do a lot of mowing or repetitive loader work, that is worth factoring in. That said, for Customers who want to keep the investment lean without giving up any real pulling or lifting capability, the 4044M is a straightforward, capable choice backed by the same genuine John Deere parts and service support you get at any of our stores across Indiana and Ohio.

If you want to talk through which transmission style fits how you actually work, or run the numbers on adding cruise control to the 4044M, our team is glad to walk through it with you.
