A straight, spec-by-spec look for cut buyers across Ohio and Indiana. The numbers are only half the decision.
Most Customers shopping in this class are hobby farmers, acreage owners, or small operations who need a compact tractor that can handle loader work, finish mowing, and light tillage without a lot of fuss. They want something that starts reliably, moves intuitively, and does not sit in the shop waiting on parts. The 3038E comes standard with a hydrostatic transmission, which means no clutching, no gear hunting, just smooth forward and reverse control that makes repetitive tasks like loader work genuinely easier on a long afternoon. The Workmaster 35 offers a gear 4WD option, but its HST variant gives up real ground on PTO output, dropping to 26.6 hp compared to the 3038E's 30 hp at the shaft. That difference shows up when you are running a finish mower or a tiller at full load.
The New Holland does carry more hydraulic flow for implement work and a slightly higher rated lift capacity, so we will be straight with you about that. But the 3038E's shorter wheelbase and lighter open-station weight make it noticeably more maneuverable in tight spots around buildings and fence lines, which matters more to most of our Customers than peak hydraulic numbers they rarely push to the limit.
Where the 3038E really separates itself is what happens after the sale. Koenig has stores across Indiana and Ohio, genuine John Deere parts on the shelf, and technicians who know these machines. Resale on Deere compact tractors in this region stays strong, too. Come talk with our team and we can put one in front of you to see how it fits your operation.
