Spec Comparison

John Deere 1023E vs. MAHINDRA EMAX 22L HST

A straight, spec-by-spec look for cut buyers across Ohio and Indiana. The numbers are only half the decision.

John Deere 1023E Compact Tractor-1

Is the John Deere 1023E right for you?

The Customer shopping in this class usually has a few acres to manage, maybe a small hobby farm or a rural property, and they want something nimble enough to mow, move material, and run a few attachments without overcomplicating their day. They are weighing price against long-term peace of mind, and that is exactly where the 1023E earns its place. The PTO output is a real difference: 16.2 hp versus 14.9 hp on the Mahindra means the 1023E has more usable power at the implement, which matters when you are running a finish mower or a tiller in heavier ground. The steering hydraulic flow is also stronger at 3.5 gpm compared to 2.6 gpm, so the tractor responds crisply when you are working in tight spaces.

The Mahindra does show higher implement hydraulic flow, and that is worth noting honestly. For most light-duty tasks in this size class, though, the 1023E's 3.5 gpm is plenty capable, and the 192-pound weight advantage means the Deere is easier on turf and simpler to trailer. The rated lift capacity of 758 pounds behind the hitch arms is a concrete number the Mahindra simply does not publish, which tells you something about confidence in that spec.
